Pete and I go back to 1969 (the lab school days)! We had a great time catching up with each other in Chicago right after the 20th reunion before he moved to NY and we laughed hard at how our hairlines have gone the way of our fathers!

1996 Update

  • Occupation: Surgeon - specializing in head and neck cancer, facial plastic reconstructive surgery, and microvascular surgery

    Hobbies: Tennis

    What I’ve done in the last 20 years:
    • Co-inventor of the first bone replacement cement that can be used to reconstruct the facial skeleton and converts to bone over time
    • Founded OsteoGenites, Inc. to produce and market this cement (which is now traded on the NASDAQ)
    • Associate Professor in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery at New York University-Mount Sinai School of Medicine (I will be leaving my current position as Chief of Head and Neck Surgery at Loyola University in July 1996)
    • Most importantly, I am the father of two lovely girls that remain my greatest achievement
    What I plan to do in the next 20 years:
    • I am currently completing a major textbook on Head and Neck Reconstructive Surgery, and plan a second textbook on Head and Neck Cancer Surgery in two years
    • I hope to develop a method of replacing the entire human trachea, which is currently under development in my laboratory over the next 5 years
    • I hope to refine a technique of using antibodies bound to an anti-cancer drug that kills tumors when exposed to laser light
    • Most importantly, I hope to have another child
