Memories of Dennis Devolder

I remember meeting Dennis at the country club pool in about 1971. He and I shared many laughs in Terry Daggett's health class in which we were the only two seniors. Dennis had a wicked sense of humor going way back when. One of the last times I got to share with Dennis was canoeing at Argyle - a nice note to end on. Lots and lots of fun at Geoffs.

I remember spending a wacky summer with Dennis working at a summer camp. It was our job to keep the children in line. It was a glorious summer and I learned much from Dennis and his charming younger brother Mike. Dennis earned the nickname Oscar, something which his daughter would find amusing, I am certain. You will have to ask Dennis how and why he earned this name. This is something like signing a yearbook, only Dennis has neither seen nor heard from me in 21 years. Jeez, I feel old!

Nice site Dennis, wishing you well...

2000 Update

Spouse: Cheryl

Children: Allison Marie, 1 1/2

Occupation: Assistant Professor, Computer Science @ WIU

Occupation of Spouse: Stay-At-Home Mom

What's New: What's new since '96? A new daughter, a new degree, a new job, a new house -- how's that for a start?

We are very proud parents, and I know how annoying that can be to some people. I'll simply direct anyone who is interested to http://www.wiu.edu/users/mfdmd/ to see Allison. She's wild! I have continued in the application of computing technology to education. This summer I'll be doing something a little different, leading a large group of grad students in developing applications for "palm-top" computers. Should be lots of fun.

Hobbies are pretty much on hold. Haven't done any brewing or fly-tying in nearly two years, but I always have a guitar within reach. I started playing seriously again in '96. Helps keep me sane, or at least close to it!
