Memories of Karl Hanke

Karl had a great voice, and wasn't bad on the guitar either. I remember him, Sam Thurow, and Neil Pederson crooning over acoustic guitars at several parties in '75 and '76. Those guys were like the Crosby, Stills & Nash of MHS. On top of that, Karl was a real nice person. I hope you can make it to Macomb in 2001 Karl! (and bring your guitar...)

Karl W. Hanke III

1958 - 2002

(Obit: Kansas City Star, March 2002)
Karl William Hanke III, 44, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2002.

Karl was born in Frankfurt, Germany on February 16, 1958, to Rev. Karl and Barbara Hanke Jr. Karl was and always will be a faithful servant of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Playing guitar and singing praise and worship music was his passion, along with preaching and teaching God's word. He was a dedicated father who loved spending time with his six children, Will Hanke (21), Luke Hanke (19), Audra Hanke (18), Kacey Heffernan (17), Maranda Hanke (14) and Israel Hanke (3).

He was a loving and faithful husband to P.J. Hanke; a big brother to Kevin Hanke and wife, Margie, Karina Waller, Kris Hanke and wife, Melissa; an uncle to nieces, Carissa, Chealsea, Kayla Waller and Alexa Hanke and nephew, Andrew Hanke; and a friend to everyone.

He was and is loved by many. We will miss him, but rejoice as he lives and walks with the Lord, and we look ahead to the day we will all be together again.
