Memories of Tim Pedersen

Tim was one of my best friends growing up. Man, he used to crack me up -- what a great sense of humor. I remember that laugh like it was yesterday. Tim had/has one of those magnetic personalities - someone you wanted to be around because they just made you feel good. Tim and I, along with Rich Wallen, Rich Pollock, and Ray Cox, were in the First Presby Church Boy Scout troop together. We started out as peon tenderfeet, and ended up the senior leaders (what a scary thought)… One of the thousand memories I have about our scouting days is that Tim and the rest of us took up smoking Borkum Riff pipe tobacco out of corn cob pipes to emulate our favorite scoutmaster, Doc Frazier. In addition to the many great times we had together as scouts, Tim and I spent many hours exploring Macomb and the WIU campus on our bikes, hung out at Cady's Smoke House playing the ole' King Kool machine, and perfected our "can-openers" at the Glenwood pool. Remember the "watermelon" dive? Tim had that one down cold. I'm glad we've stayed in touch and had the opportunity to see Tim, Ellen, and their daughter Sarah in San Antonio sometime during the 1980s. What a great guy!

1999 Update

Spouse: Ellen (Battin) Pedersen

Children: Sarah Diane, 13!

Occupation: Sr. Systems Analyst/American Airlines

Ellen’s Occupation: Elementary School Teacher

What's New: Have been watching Sarah grow - next year she begins high school!! Scary...... She is a joy, though! Never gotten anything but A's all along, and always does well! We are very proud of her. We have just started some more remodeling of the house, which is mainly done by Tim. Ellen makes a good supervisor, though. We have lived in the same house since '86, and have continually updated it.... This is just the next phase!

Ellen has been teaching since.... well, a really long time. She teaches kindergarten here in the Tulsa Public Schools. She loves it... and, the best part is: One day she's gonna make me rich!! I have been working at American Airlines since '88. No, they won't let me fly the thing, but I get to do lots of other really fun stuff, like implement changes in the computer system used by about 500 folks in our Inventory Management and Supply departments. Keeps me off the streets... Hobbies..... let's see. The biggest one is investing and trying to figure out how to permanently leave corporate America and have some real fun. Current plan is to retire by either 50 or 55 and do something I really truly enjoy, like woodworking, cabinet making, or making and selling stuff at craft shows. Cross your fingers.........
