Spouse: Dora
Occupation: Career Counselor, California State University, Hayward. Hayward, CA
Occupation of Spouse: Operating Room Nurse Manager at an outpatient surgery center
Hobbies: Running, movie buff, reading, traveling
What I've done in the last 25 years:
- WIU student (1976-79)
- US Air Force (1979-95); stationed in Texas, California, Iceland, England, Saudi Arabia
- Married Dora in 1980. Ah, to be young and stupid again.
- B.A. in Psychology, 1983
- Took an early retirement from Uncle Sam in 1995; returned to Macomb to finally become a WIU alum; obtained M.S. in College Student Personnel, 1998
- Had a blast at the MHS 20th reunion
- Obtained an internship at Columbia University and spent the summer of '97 in New York City. Wow, that was fun!
- Started my new career at my dream school, UC Berkeley. My office was in Sproul Hall, birthplace of the 1963 Free Speech Movement.
- Obtained a position at De Anza College in December 1999. I managed the Career Center -- assisted students in the job search process, critiqued resumes, helped students build interviewing skills, maintained the Career Center web site (of course), shmoozed with local employers, and conducted career-related workshops. Cool Job!
- Quit smoking July 2000 -- started running again!
- January 2001: Escaped De Anza College before it exploded. Boy, that was close.
- Started my new job at Cal State University, Hayward
as a Career Counselor in the Career Development Center. I do quite a bit of counseling, manage the on-campus interviewing program, and (of course) designed and maintained the the web site. A great job and even better commute!
What I plan to do in the next 20 years: Enjoy helping college students, make money designing web sites, stay healthy, travel with Dora, RETIRE!
