Occupation of Spouse: Co-Owner, Marketing Firm

What's New: A few things have changed since the 20-year class reunion. After nine productive years contributing to Reno's cultural profile, I decided to leave my position as Executive Director of the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. I am now co-owner of Realife Marketing, an advertising and public relations firm founded by my wonderful wife, Jacqueline (a former advertising executive), back in 1997. She started the company after our first son, Noah, was born. Noah is now 2½ years old. Experiencing Noah's growth first hand, every day has been a clear joy for her while building the new business. I was so taken by the positive change in her lifestyle, that last December I decided to do the same thing when our son, William, was born.

Our firm handles more than a dozen clients, mostly local, including a car dealership, property development, a few state agencies, the Nevada State Fair, Coca-Cola, Habitat For Humanity, the National Automobile Museum and a few more. It's interesting work, but quite a different experience when chasing kids around every few minutes between phone calls. Being a husband-wife team also requires offices at opposite ends of the house. However, it sure beats the stress and inflexible 14-hour days, including weekend matinees and evening performances at the Arts Center. If you have the means to start your own business, I highly recommend it -- it's hard work, but very satisfying.
